iPhone Round 2 hasn’t started yet and rivals are knocking themself out
Now that the imminent arrival of the new iPhone 3G is days away all majors handset makers are doing some desperate moves:
Nokia bought Symbian OS and promises to make it royalty free for all of its users.
Google’s Android is being delayed for about 2 months.
RIM missed earning estimates, stock was beaten with a 13% reduction, RIM promised to increase its marketing spending for Blackberry.
The new Blackberry Bold is being delayed because battery life and overheating problems, so the July launch is in doubt.
RIM is said to be gearing up for a Holy War against the iPhone.
Palm reported a $43.4 millions loss, Centro apparently hasn’t helped much.
Motorola has been suffering for a year or two a massive mobile phone sales decline.
Apple has a real hit in advance with the iPhone 3G, it managed to put strong pressure on rivals that didn’t see it coming and counted Apple out of any mobile business strategy.
Now Apple is out to fight for its place on the mobile arena and this time it will take the head off of those that step in its way, it comes ready to give a 12 rounds fight with more features, better priced and a business strategy that let rivals offering pale and weaken.
RIM is feeling the heat and Nokia is taking the needed steps to guarantee its place at the top of mobile makers, while Palm is becoming financially unatractive for investors.
Samsung has some Instincts and is using them to take iPhone fans away. RIM moves look Bold and desperate, HTC can’t Touch the iPhone usability, Motorola is on the Razr Edge bleeding marketshare and Palm will be in the Centro (center) of another restructure soon.
The present is bright for Apple and the future promises more success.
