MediaMall Technologies announced that videos recorded with their PlayLater software would now be portable to Android mobile devices, Windows Phones, and BlackBerry Smartphones. These devices join the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch for which support was announced in August. PlayLater videos can now be played on most any mobile platform via the devices’ native video players.

PlayLater, released in September last year, is PC software that serves as an online DVR. PlayLater customers can record streaming video from 30+ online websites including Hulu, Hulu Plus, Netflix, Amazon VOD, HBO Go, YouTube, CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox, Disney, PBS Kids, Nick, Nick Jr, and many more. They can then watch these recorded videos on the PC (without the need for an Internet connection) or transfer them to a mobile device and watch them on that device.

PlayLater is targeting customers looking for convenience: (1) users can avoid the frustrating experience of missing an episode or movie before the online listing expires (2) users can watch videos when they are offline or have an insufficient Internet connection to stream video (e.g. on a plane) (3) users can watch videos when outside of the US where some online services do not allow access, and (4) consumers can avoid purchasing videos on their mobile devices and instead record those same videos and move them to the mobile device.
