New and Redesigned RBH Sound MC-6CT Tower Speakers introduced

RBH Sound unveiled their redesigned MC-6CT tower speaker to 2009 CEDIA Expo attendees outside the company’s demonstration sound room (SR-4) in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia this week.
The new design of the MC-6CT, the flagship of RBH Sound’s MC Series, includes many changes including a sonic upgrade and a visual redesign. The redesign takes the already stellar sounding tower and turns it up a notch in performance and aesthetic appeal.
The two lower 6.5-inch woofers were raised to the upper half of the cabinet, and the Resonance Damping Alloy Baffle™ (RDAB) is now 220% larger and functions to better damp cabinet vibrations and minimize tweeter diffraction. The newly designed crossover works in concert with a front-mounted flared port increasing the bass extension to 35Hz! Bass response of the new tower can be custom-tailored by inserting or removing an included foam plug from the port. Other changes include a new grille design and an integrated plinth/base for added stability.
The tower still features RBH Sound’s proprietary metal cone woofer technology – the same technology featured on the company’s award-winning Signature Series models. The driver’s inherent stiffness, low mass and self-damping properties allow them to deliver clean, accurate sound.
Perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of the redesign of the MC-6CT is that RBH Sound has held the price of the tower speaker at its 2009 suggested retail of $1,369 per pair! The MC-6CT’s siblings include two bookshelves (MC-4C, MC6C), a dedicated surround (MC-44C), two center channel speakers (MC-414C, MC-616C), and two powered subwoofers (TS-10AP, TS-12AP). All MC Series speakers are available in an attractive black oak veneer finish and are shipping now.
