We all know that Apple is brewing something secretly, maybe a ultra faster processor with small energy footprint, but what We all do not know for sure is how much is Apple interested in taking the game spotlight away from Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft or how much is Apple poised to make the iPod Touch or maybe the next iTablet a true gaming platform.

With the power the iPhone 3Gs is carrying right now is possible to start a gaming revolution, but Apple needs to go further and make an even out of this world experience, here is 5 things I think Apple should address first to give console makers a hard day:

1. More Power and new abilities
Upgrade the iPod Touch with all the power features of the iPhone and add a Camera, a microphone and Bluetooth and of course, drop the price to US$199 or better. Doing this will put the iPod Touch in the same league of other mobile gaming platform.

2. The AppleTV as a new gaming console.
Apple needs to transform the AppleTV into an extension of the iPod Touch, it will the the iPod Touch interface for your tv set, with the AppleTV use your iPod Touch as a gaming control, the AppleTV will provide the home experience for the iPod Touch and instead of connecting the iPod Touch directly to the TV, make it works wirelessly with the AppleTV. The AppleTV will store, share and download all your levels, music, video and else and sync it with your iPod Touch.

3. iPod Touch Wireless Gaming capability
Make the iPod Touch a truely mobile gaming platform and an easy way to extend the iPod Touch gaming features is adding wireless discovery of others players around. A simple Got Games? or Want to Play? identification that blink in your screen to let you know that you are closed to somebody with gaming capabilities in his/her iPod Touch and that is ready to play. Imagine this feature while traveling to Europe, playing football with 10 iPod Touch users on the same plane without even knowing them. Nice and easy.

4. Games games games
Apple should invest in games, put some millions into gaming companies to guarantee even more and more uniqe iPhone and iPod Touch games, while this new platform is having a boom in gaming development, Apple should accelerate this development and this could be done by licensing some famous titles to be port to the iPod Touch or by creating a joint venture with an established games developer to make the iPod Touch even more attractive.

5. Attachable Bluetooth Video Camera
While a Camera is a MUST for the new iPod Touch, a Front Camera is the ultimate thing and this could be achieve by providing an attachable/detachable Bluetooth Camera that can be attached in the front giving real video conferencing for gaming and communicaton. It can be plugged into the bottom connector and attached to the left side of the Touch en it is on landscape or to the uppder side when it’s in portrait.

This 5 things are not far from being added to the iPod Touch and I believe if Apple is really interested in transform the iPod Touch into the new Mobile Gaming Platform, some of them will have to be addressed if not all.
