Sennheiser MX W1 wireless earphone system wins CES Innovations Award

We are delighted to have won this Consumer Electronics Association award and are proud to have developed the MX W1 as the first wireless earphone system with digital transmission technology,” said Susanne Seidel, President Global Marketing at Sennheiser. The Innovations Design and Engineering Award is presented once a year in recognition of the most innovative consumer electronics products. An interdisciplinary jury made up of engineers and technical journalists chose the MX W1 as the best product in its category this year on the basis of its engineering qualities, design, function and user value. The earphone system already won the coveted EISA Award presented by the European Imaging and Sound Association in August this year.
“Our customers and partners expect products from Sennheiser that not only offer state-of-the-art technology but also fulfil the special demands of audiophile music fans,” explained Sennheiser Product Manager Sven Wilhelmsen. The MX W1 certainly lives up to these expectations: thanks to new transmission technology from Kleer™, the wireless stereo earphone system allows complete freedom of movement. Sennheiser is the first manufacturer in the world to offer a completely wireless earphone system that works without compression and therefore without any loss of audio quality. At the same time, newly developed transducers guarantee a highly detailed sound with well-defined bass notes. Sennheiser’s “twist-to-fit” system ensures a secure and comfortable fit in the ear, and a carrying case with an integrated battery allows fast recharging even when on the move. Kleer™ technology also offers multi-receiver capability, enabling two people to listen to the same audio source at the same time.
About the CES Innovations Awards
The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards (CES Innovations Awards) have been presented by the Consumer Electronics Association since 1976. A jury consisting of industrial designers, engineers and technical journalists evaluates the products on the basis of their engineering qualities, design, function and user value. The best products in a total of 34 categories are chosen and will be put on display in the Innovations Showcase during the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas in January 2009.
