Countdown to MacWorld 2009 Started today, predictions and magic balls
MacWorld 2009 is a month away and the time is right for New Year Predictions on Apple new products, this MacWorld we will see some flashes of the new Mac OS X Snow Leopard and the launch date set by Apple for its market introduction and while Apple promised to focus on performance and not on cosmetic features, the next system could see some touchscreen features added as rumors about LG creating new Touchscreen iMac for Apple.
The imminent dismissal or relaunch of the Mac Mini and the mandatory introduction of the new Apple Cinema Display featuring the new Displyaport technology and redesign.
In the iPhone land, Apple will take the opportunity to tell us how many shiny new iPhones were sold and how it is taking the market, Walmart iPhone distribution, the iphone/ipod as a gaming platform and more.
Apple will take this holiday season to evaluate the netbook and depending on how mature the market they will enter, but not this year.
It’s time for a new MacPro and this MacWorld Apple could upgrade it with faster chip, video card and yes Blu-Ray, but this is something that is not taking Apple’s sleep away, it could be as an option for higher MacPro. Apple doesn’t want to distract iTunes buyers with any Blu-Ray news.

I'll guess that the main focus of this MWSF will be software. The MacBook line was just refreshed as was the iMac. I'm thinking the mini will see some sort of refresh. Without it the product line is a little too thin, too narrow. The really cool chips for driving new products won't be out till later next year (Nehalem). However, Intel might surprise us and I'll be wrong.
On the other hand, Apple has a lot of important things to talk about in regards to software. I think Snow Leopard will be bigger than Apple has let on. Not so much in terms of flashy changes to the UI (though there are rumors of a cocoa Finder). Remember how Steve made a strong point of saying that the important part of the iPhone was in the software. Apple has spent the last 18 months or so laying the groundwork for the near future of OS X. Steve could reveal a lot of Apple's direction for the next several years.

hihi
According to my calculations, if you divide the amount left to reach the goal of 1,000,000,000 apps, you have to calculate that the rate of apps being downloaded goes up at about 100 downloads every 1.5 seconds (estimate). If you calculate that amount to how long it would take, I approximate that it will reach 1,000,000,000 in 28.695 hours or so which means that it might reach it at 9:00PM April 22, 2009.
Note*: This doesn't calculate the fact that there might be an overflow in people when it reaches 999,500,000 or higher because that could change that stats by about an hour or two or more.
The Count right now is at 989,715,560
