Cheaper, lighter and cute little laptops called Netbooks are taking on and displacing traditional brands, with excellent design and performance, priced competitively and good features this netbooks are getting traction from almost all big names in the computer industry. Microsoft is equally feeling the heat because all of this new sensations on mobile computing come with a modified version of Linux OS or a Cloud Version loaded with Google‘s applications, ideal for people that depends on Google free, but features packed offering, something that make Microsoft totally irrelevant.

Apple is watching how this new endeavour on mobile computing evolve and depending on its success Apple promised a new netbook laptop, but don’t believe Steve Jobs, Apple must have this machine already designed and packed with network ready features, mobileme account, iphone synchronization, network booting and more.

Apple has the bigger advantages of all other PC manufacturers, even if Apple came late to the netbook party, Apple network services and infrastructure make it a lot easier to provide this kind of laptops, it is only a matter of creating a smaller Macbook loaded with a modified version of Mac OS X or the iPhone OS with more features.

Apple could kill the Mac Mini, create a new mobile version of the Mac Mini with all the features and usability of the smaller Macbook, but don’t expect Apple to call it netbooks, instead, Apple will revitalize the iPhone or the Macbook brands only adding the Network moniker or a modification of it, Apple will try to create a new segment excluding itself from the actual netbook one.

Transforming the iPhone into a Netbook is a matter of adding a larger screen and add more features, this way Apple guarantees that all iPhone and iPod Touch applications keep of and running, and better yet, Apple eliminates all possibilities of creating a $500 laptop that Steve doesn’t believe is possible to create, but a $500 iPhone fits this specs better.

Apple Advantages
If Linux can then Apple is ultra qualified, Apple has a better user interface that better fits this kind of devices, Linux is based on Unix, so does Mac OS X and Apple has the iPhone OS, which is already proven to be effective, usable and reliable.

Apple MobileMe could add a more interesting twist to the Apple Netbook, it can provide synchronization among multiple devices, the AppStore can provide fresh applications helping it to be more usable.

Apple is ready to take on the netbook segment, let just hope for a competitive priced device for the rest of us.
