Things Apple should fix in the mac platform for an even bigger marketshare
Apple has been growing exponentially faster than the PC industry and all its bigger proponents, Dell, HP and others, but to achieve an even bigger marketshare and to cement its position on the living room Apple should do two things.
1. Introduce a $800 desktop computer
We been talking about a cheaper entry level mac for years and now that Apple is rumored to be refreshing the imac line, this is the right time to introduce it. A $800 could drive more new mac users to the platform and at the same time help grow marketshare and enterprise clients.
While Apple only has the Mini as the entry mac, it comes without display, keyboard and mouse and doesn’t represent the computer of choice for new mac users, Apple needs to relaunch the 17″ imac as the entry level mac.
2. A Gaming Roadmap
Now that Nvidia launched its ultra powerfull GPU that power the Macbook and that is rumored to be inside the new imac due in weeks, Apple must consider entering the game market or at least help games developers move their titles faster to the mac and don’t rely on Bootcamp and Windows for the Mac gaming experience.
We all bought macs, so we want to keep playing hardcore games on our macs, booting or switching to Windows for games is easy, but it will always legitimate that macs are not an entertaining computer or worse games and mac don’t mix.
If Apple fixes these two roadblock and puts its energy on providing a better mac gaming experience, then the platform will grow even faster, gaming and entertainment are the valuable aspect in today’s PCs and million of users decide what to buy based on price and performance of their future machine.
