This move could means a lot to Microsoft, HP is the world biggest PC maker and if it is true, HP will profit more from Microsoft Windows Vista Bundle, forcing Microsoft to change its pricing and taking care of Windows Vista, a defection like this means that Windows Vista is worse than we can imagine and the frustration at HP is reaching its higher level.
But HP adding its own version of Linux is just the begining, all those ME-TOO computer makers will try to be in the game, adding Linux distribution or making more emphasis in the Open Source OS to corner Microsoft and get even higher profits from bundling Vista with each PC.
The only winner is obviously is the Linux, which will receive more attention and investment for all the majors PC makers and the end user that will receive an always evolving OS that free them from the poor quality of Windows Vista.
But in the not so long run, Apple could really gain from HP defection, just imagine the Get a Mac version of this story, this will help destroy Vista and its already bad reputation.
