Apple rethinks its iPod Touch strategy, turned it into a gaming platform
I told you guys, the only chance for the iPod Touch as a real iPod is becoming a gaming platform because if You are buying an iPod for jugging or walking, then you don’t need an iPod Touch, if you buy an iPhone neither, so its only chance for Apple was to have a totally different approach than the iPhone and of course playing games doesn’t help too much, but can be a multi million dollars cow every quarter.
Yesterday Apple touted the iPod Touch games features and formally launched it against Nintendo and Sony in a move that I hope can be extended to the Mac, eliminating its second class citizen when it comes to games.
Steve is on games and this could really be a winning factor for the iPod Touch, which has been suffering from a identity crisis, it’s not an iPod or a iPhone, but its muscles will position it at the same level of other portable gaming platforms, what it really needs is a marketing push from Apple and yesterday move could evidence at least that this is a subject in Apple business decision or strategy.
Apple must keep pushing the iPod Touch in this direction, supporting game developers, adding more features that make easier the creation of entertainment material for the iPod Touch and put it in the face of millions iPod users worldwide, people needs to know what can do with this new iPod.
