T-Mobile will adopt an open-platform app downloading to compete with Apple’s App Store. It will be bigger than the App Store as one observer pointed out because it includes all of T-Mobile’s phones distributed to 31.5 million subscribers. T-Mobile, however, will not do the pricing like Apple. Instead, some app developers may find their revenue-sharing policy more attractive than what the App Store is currently offering. The applications will be submitted online and pay-off is based on how much the app is used. T-Mobile will also rank the apps based on popularity. I’m not sure that apps like Monkey Ball and other software that requires heavy investments would find the system ideal. No word on what T-Mobile is planning to call it.
