3LCD to achieve projection industry milestone: 50 million chips shipped
USA (AVING Special Report on ‘infoComm 2008′) —
3LCD chips are the key components driving the majority of projectors in the global classrooms, conference rooms and home theaters. The first 3-chip LCD projector was introduced to the market in 1989. Since then, leading manufacturers of 3LCD projectors have been driving the market forward with break-through in image quality, functionality, reliability and form factor.
In the two decades since front projection technology has taken a hold in the market, 3LCD technology has emerged as a leader with outstanding track record of performance and reliability in the field. With millions of projectors sold and in-use today, 3LCD technology delivers every day where users need it most – in meeting rooms, classrooms, board rooms, houses of worship and large venues around the world. One of the hallmarks of the 3LCD engine and its durability is its solid-state optical engine, which has no moving mechanical parts.
3LCD recently announced it has expanded its leadership position globally. In the front projection market, 3LCD’s market share has grown to a 6.3-point unit share lead over competitors in the first quarter of 2008, according to Pacific Media Associates (PMA). 3LCD technology-based products kicked off 2008 with 52.9 percent total global market share.
