7 humble recommendations to Mixx from a digg refugee
While reading Techcrunch’s Digg Refugees May Be Heading To Mixx, I realized that I am not alone about my feelings for digg, digg is a tremendous social community and that is the problem, it is too big that you have not chance of being noticed and when noticed is just to smash you…. We were banned inmediately, without any warning, any recommendation and just without any merit… the information we were supplying wasn’t made by us…. yeah right… Of course, you just have to go to the most visited websites on the net and more than 50% of the information they have is via another news source…
Now that I classify as a digg refugee I would like to give Mixx 7 humble recommendations, I don’t want to be a Mixx refugee too..
1. Keep it simple.
Our day by day life is too complicated and we only need a clean and updated website to read…
2. Power to the People.
Please don’t tell people that they are the most important part of your online strategy and then sign with corporations that don’t take people into consideration.
3. Please DO NOT act as a big corporation.
Recently desinformado.com was banned from a social website (digg.com) because some of our information wasn’t created by us… We didn’t have the change to defend us. They didn’t know that there are thousands of publications that buy news from Associated Press and EFE, or why not ban Google News or Yahoo News, they don’t create the news either.
4. Create a spanish Mixx.
If you really want to take on others social sites, a spanish version of mixx will help you. There are a lot of business in Latin America and more than 40 million latinos in USA.
5. Never left the beta stage.
While being in beta for a long period can send you to the vaporware industry, it can really help you keep your site updated with new technologies and features, don’t forget that Googles’s tools have been in beta for years.
6. Daily News Feeds.
Provide a daily news feed to signed members in the topic they choose. It will let you be in contact with your audience.
7. Do not even compete with the Good Features of your Rivals.
Waste of time, just check what they aren’t doing and innovate or just open a Recommendation Form to receive thousands/millions of tips, Apple has a recommendation form for itunes…. you could need it.
